Pink Ombre Sweetheart Dress

Summer is quickly coming to its end, and I was able to add a few little pieces to the shop as a farewell to these last warm days before Fall sets in. I had an idea in my head that I just sat down to sew one day without sketching or fine tuning, and while working, I didn't really think it would turn out as well as it did. It's one of those dresses that just sings when the final stitch is in place and you turn it over to look at your handiwork. I might have squealed with delight.

It's just so girly and feminine without being too over the top, and the straps and bow detail make it so carefree. I made it for one of my new brand reps, and I would have kept it for my little papoose had it been the right size! She will definitely be getting one of these soon for the Summer before all those Fall outfits I'll be sewing up soon!

Crib Bedding

One of my sweet cousins is having her baby shower this weekend, and I was so excited when she allowed me to make the crib bedding for her little papoose. His name is Sawyer, which I totally approve of, and he is the second boy our family has out of five girls already. I am so used to girls and making all sorts of girly things that it was a nice change of pace sewing his bedding.

The fabric and design was already picked out so it was super easy and convenient for me to just get to work sewing. It all came together rather quickly, considering my own little papoose decides my working hours. Or, rather, working increments of about 45 minutes. And then someone is wanting to be held, the same someone whose legs are in the way.

Fall Fever

I am in full Fall fever mode over here, but I'm usually a season ahead of schedule anyways. I have no shame in celebrating so early because Fall is my absolute favorite season, and the earlier I am surrounded by all the gorgeous colors and pumpkin spices, the longer I can enjoy it. I have to keep one foot in Summer though, if only to appear normal, and I still have some fun Summer designs rolling around in my head I want to sew up and send out to my new brand reps.

I spent last week browsing fabric online and then headed to see what my local stores had to offer on Saturday, and I am too excited about the pieces that were chosen! I am seriously tempted to keep the plaid fabric for myself, and in all honesty, there will probably be Mommy and Me outfits from it. The matchy-matchy kind. Again, no shame.

American Flag Dress

Our 4th of July celebration was very low key this year. We didn't even get out of the house, and when we did hear the fireworks, we didn't even bother looking out the window to check if we could see them. Mostly because the little papoose was just falling asleep, but also, it takes a lot of effort to get everyone ready and out the door. I don't know how people do anything with multiple children. Plus, it was hot outside, so no.

I did manage to make a festive dress for the occasion. We had a mini photo shoot, but she wasn't that interested in smiling for me. She was too enthralled with the strips of fabric in her dress and putting them in her mouth. I came across a picture of an American flag textile art on Pinterest a few weeks ago and was so inspired. After some serious digging to figure out where the original picture came from and who the artist is, I was finally introduced to Sara Rahbar and her flags. I stared at them for so long and just absorbed all the details until I had the idea to make a dress.

I was going for the deconstructed look so the strips of fabric in the skirt will naturally fray over time. I knew from the beginning I wanted to use my pinwheel design for the bodice so I didn't even bother sitting down and drawing something out. I just went to work cutting strips of fabric in various lengths and randomly placed them where I felt they should go, and it all came together beautifully. Everything was already in my fabric stash, and I didn't even bother with perfection. Except for my model, she was perfect, of course.

Father's Day

This past Sunday was so special and sweet for my two favorite people to celebrate Father's Day together. I was able to squeeze out a dress for the little papoose to wear for the occasion. I decided to go with an all-white creation to make things simple, and it turned out so beautifully. I kept wanting to add a pop of color or some other pattern, but I'm glad I was able to refrain myself because there's something so angelic and timeless about it.

We managed a quick little Daddy-Daughter photo session to commemorate the day, and just like all the Mother's Day pictures, these turned out so beautifully that I'm going to have to print some off. I love how these two interacted with each other. Daddy was much more daring in his poses than Mommy was, but the little papoose loved being swung and tossed around. I can definitely see the bond between them, and they just look so happy together!

Onederland Party

My niece's first birthday party in "Onederland" was a total success, my sister did such an amazing job putting everything together and styling it perfectly! I love how whimsical the theme was and how it translated into this perfect little storybook party. I took over 450 pictures, so I think there are plenty to choose from for any type of scrapbooking or memory keeping that may occur.

Luckily, both dresses I made for the birthday girl fit, so I was super happy she was able to wear them both. She made her grand entrance in the Alice inspired dress, then stripped down to her smash cake outfit that included the fun little "Miss June" sash I made for her, and finally, her oh-so-glamorous pink pinafore debuted when she opened all her presents. She was the perfect little princess, and I'm so glad I was able to help bring it to life!
